THRILLER POSTER 2 : INCEPTION

The second thriller poster I'm going to be analysing is from the movie Inception :

1. The image itself is dramatic and effective, the colour palette of gloomy, dark colours such as several tones of blue creates a sense of coldness and seems surreal.

2. The red title against the blue background is used to stand out and contrast.

3. Tagline : 'YOUR MIND IS THE SCENE OF THE CRIME' - giving insight into what genre the film belongs to and draws the viewer in through mystery.

4. The billing block for the poster is very small, the font is cramped together & seems elongated. This text is commonly used on billing blocks on posters to make the text camouflaged, in order to not draw the viewers attention to it

5.The mise-en-scene is of Tokyo covered with water, its shown to be very dark and stormy, presenting the final scene of the movie.

6. The costume being a dark suit is a common convention of thriller films for the main protagonist. The suit presents the character as being buisness orientated.

                                                                      7. Having the gun as a presented prop connotes that the          
                                                                      film is a thriller and suggests that the film consists of
                                                                      violence.

                                                                      8. By advertising that Leonardo Dicaprio stars in the film
                                                                      would entice the movie fanatics int watching the film.
