CONCLUSION OF TRAILER ANNALYSIS

There are both similarities and differences between teaser trailers, theatrical trailers and tv spots.
The similar conventions between all three consist of :

  • The title of the film
  • The release date/or around the time of the release of the film
  • A series of short, quicker edited clips
  • Most exciting parts of the film
  • Production company logo
  • Production company name
  • Credits
  • Actor's and actresses names
  • Tag lines
  • Images from film
  • Rating
  • Music
  • Diegetic sound
  • Non-diegetic sound
  • Narrator

The main and obvious difference between a teaser trailer and a theatrical trailer is the duration of the trailer itself.

A theatrical trailer is made to be a lot longer, around 2 minutes 30 seconds this being because the theatrical trailer is released in its final days of editing and therefore has much more footage to work with. This type of trailer consists of a lot more crucial information based on the story line of the film.

Where as a teaser trailer's purpose is to tease the target audience showing the best bits of the film without revealing much information about the story line in roughly 30 seconds, and is released around a year before the film release. Another partial reason for the shortened length of the teaser trailer is due to the producers not having much footage, as it is made in the early stages of production. Teaser trailers are made to create mystery for the audience, making them intrigued to watch more.
